Adward scheme requirements for Venturers at Cuboree 2010

Monday 27th September – Friday 1st October 2010

Venturers most welcome to assist!

At each of the five Victorian Cuborees the Venturers were part of the back bone of the activities and service teams- probably because Venturers seem to get along so well with the Cub Scouts.

Eligibility requirements for Venturers attending Cuboree 2010

-  To be registered and invested  Venturer

-  To have completed the Venturing Skills badge

-  To have the approval of the Unit council and the Group Leader/Leader in charge

 

Queen Scout Award Scheme

Venturers have the opportunity to achieve some progress towards their Queen Scout Award by providing service to the event. If interested, start getting involved with the Cuboree and ensure that you have the necessary approvals.

 

-  Pursuits – as an assistant or trained member of a team providing an activity such as abseiling;

-  Service – see following notes;

-  A Venturer Liaison Leader will be in attendance at the event to assist, and

REMEMBER

-  Whatever you wish to do, ensure prior to the event that you fully understand what is required of you;

-  As Youth Members, Venturers must not have sole responsibility for Cub Scouts at anytime except under the leadership of an adult;

-  No Venturer may work as a Line Leader in a Cub Pack;

-  If you wish to undertake activities for the Award Scheme, make sure you obtain the appropriate approval beforehand.

 

AWARD SCHEME (as amended 1-7-2010)

 

Service Venturer Award Level

 

Alternative 1 (as per Venturer Scout Record Book)

Carry out at least 10 hours of practical service to the Scouting Movement. Service shall be given outside the Venturer Scout’s own Unit and shall be additional to that normally expected of a Member of the Movement.

 

NOTE: - participation at Cuboree will achieve this standard

OR

Service Queen’s Scout Level (as per Venturer Scout Record Book)

 

Alternative 2

Assist with the running of a Joey Scout Mob, Cub Scout Pack or Scout Troop on a regular basis for at least 30 hours over a four month period. Venturer Scouts who are 14½ years can assist with the running of a Joey Scout Mob or Cub Scout Pack but must be 16 years of age to assist with the running of a Scout Troop. This assistance is to be on a regular basis over a four month period. During this period the Venturer Scout must undergo some in-service training.

 

NOTE: - participation at Cuboree will achieve 20 hours towards Queen’s Scout Level.

 

However, if the Venturer has been an active member of a Cuboree Planning Committee OR has completed a Youth Helpers Course as well as assisted in some meeting nights of either Joey Scouts or Cub Scouts then 30 hours may be achieved. Youth Helpers Course and service to a Mob or Pack may be done pre or post Cuboree
